HONOR ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST-Saturday, June 23rd at 6:30 around the front circle for the Blessing of the Fire

09/13/15 Twenty Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time - Deacon Ron

None of us likes to suffer, and we all view death with a certain apprehension. These are most human responses. In fact, the Son of God himself prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane in dread of the suffering and death that he faced. "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet, not as I will, but as you will." In today's gospel, our savior "... began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer greatly...and be killed..." What meaning does our Lord's Passion hold for us; and how does this inform how you and I approach our own suffering and death?
