Faith Formation

Mission Statement

Our Lady of Fatima Faith Formation program seeks, in partnership with parents, to instill in children a knowledge and love of God which will deepen as they live their faith through prayer, good works, sacraments, and service to others. Focus on attendance at Mass and preparation for reception of Reconciliation, Eucharist, and Confirmation is of utmost importance. Recognizing that faith starts in the family, the staff encourages a strong connection between home and class in terms of values and virtues to be practiced. All are welcome!

Please read this letter from Fr. Reggie explaining the new program for Religious Education, now called Faith Formation.

June 2022

Dear Our Lady of Fatima Religious Education Families,

I pray that this letter finds you well and prospering. As we end one year of Religious Instruction and prepare to return to in-person Instruction, it would seem the right time to make some changes to our program. I know most do not like change, but it is needed, and upcoming changes make it necessary.

Our purpose remains the same: to help parents, priests, and teachers to hand on the Deposit of Faith in its fullness to a new generation of young people so that they may come to understand the richness of the Catholic Faith, and thereby be drawn into a deeper communion with Christ in his Church. We have many challenges that we need to overcome. Here are just a few:

  • Mass attendance
  • Increased costs with fewer students
  • Recruiting capable Catechists
  • Meeting everyone’s schedule
  • How do we keep the children in church after confirmation?
  • Sports programs
  • Making classes pertinent and inline with the real world.
  • Upcoming change to the age of Confirmation

These are just a few of the challenges. With limited resources and an important need we felt this was the time to make some changes. We have studied what other parishes are doing and what has worked and what has not worked, and we would like to present our new program to you...

Understanding that this is a difficult and challenging time in our world, we must still retain and practice our Christian values and trust in Divine Providence. Please ask your children to show their gratitude and respect for the men and women who unselfishly share their gifts as they try to form good disciples. Catechists will be patient and understanding and show their respect for each student. We can then move forward in harmony.
